How do you solve food insecurity?
This was the question that The Lord laid upon the heart of the team members for The Veggie Van.
As a Christian organization, we put the calling that The Lord has put on all believers at the forefront of what we do. Matthew 25: 34-40 is clear in our calling to be servants to all individuals just as if we were serving The Lord.
There are many in our home community of Augusta, GA who are hungry. Individuals who don't have the mobility or financial freedom to access the grocery stores that so many of us take for granted. This issue, called food insecurity, is not unique to Augusta, but it is especially prevalent in our area. As believers we are called to feed the hungry and close gaps like this for those in need.
Thus, with this specific mission in mind to solve food insecurity, the Veggie Van was founded in 2023 to be the solution for anyone facing a transportation or income barrier to healthy foods in our community, and Lord willing, beyond.
Where do we want to go?
Our vision is twofold:Â
Eliminate food insecurity in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA)
Hire & train team members from the communities we operate in to create economic opportunity for the communities we serve
